I Received THE gift from my favorite author. The great Charles R. Saunders, author of the seminal Sword and Soul series, IMARO, prepared a wonderful review of Retro-KM: Lord of The Landlords. Words can't express how awesome this is. I feel like a young NBA rookie. Charles Saunders is Michael Jordan. So when Charles says good job, I'm a kid on cloud nine with a box of candy! My wife is cracking-up at how outlandish I've been acting after having received; for me, the ultimate pat-on-the-back. I mean you can't tell me nothing right now. So bare with me ya'll... folks at work keep asking me what's-up. I aint saying nothing. They don't know about my alter-ego as a speculative fiction writer. Hah...
This has been a great month - I am inspired by the works I have read (see previous posts), I'm happy for having finished issue # 1 proper of the NETERS comic (available soon), and I'm juiced over the fantastic review I received from one of the mighty ones who forged the Sword and Soul genre. So NETERS issue #1 Drops this month! I'm juiced about that. Had to get that bad boy done. I left the story arc on the back burner on simmer for a minute ... had to finish my novel and get it out to the people. Having accomplished that, I've had time to get back into NETERS!
I've also had time to enjoy myself. I've been doing a lot of reading. Meji book ll by Milton Davis. It's a Sword & Soul piece set in an alternative Africa. Milt has done his homework, ya'll. This is a great novel. Should be a movie. I've also just started Renpet. Renpet is turning out to be a fasinating novel. It takes place in a world after a great change has occured; altering the people both physically and spiritually.
Renpet got me thinking. I coined a term to describe a genre of fiction that I do. Cifer-RA (see the about page). Anyway, I would describe author Djada N Medjay's book, Renpet, as cifer-RA. Again, so I'm thinking... are there any other books that I would consider fitting in the cifer-RA genre.
Books/comics that I consider cifer-RA in no particular order -
Renpet
The Godist Order series
NETERS
Sannkofaman
Bigga Dreadnuats
The Crown Ascension
Maatkara
The Horsemen
I'm sure there are more that I missed or haven't read. I'm just glad I'm not alone!
