Call it done...

Call it done. Learned a lot. Modeling is Animation Master; that is to say, modeling with splines is no easy task. They are intuitive though. Learned to get the splines and control points where I wanted them to get proper leg attachment etc.

Textures added. Decaling can be a pain, but I figure with more practice I'll get better. 3D Painter is a good app to use with AM. I was able to paint over seams and add color where the texture stretched too much. Added a nice background to give it that finishing touch.

Had big fun building the giraffe. Going to build a few more models before moving on to the next chapter in the Animation Master manual.

... then it's on to building humans and more vehicles...

Getting my low poly on...

Animation Master is going to be my main 3D application. This program just works with how I think. I should have stuck with it 10 years ago. Oh well, better late than never.

Excited about building all characters in the NETERS story arc from the ground up using Animation Master.

ZVR

AWzvr

Of all the Zombie inspired arcs to come along, my favorite was the Zombie Versus Robot IDW series. The art was incredible, and anything that Ashley Wood renders, I buy.

In keeping with my 'mastering' of Animation Master; hey, I'm a long ways off ... still learning, anyway, in between the exercises in the manual, I venture off and do my own thing. Reading what more experienced 3D modelers preach, I try and model "simple" things. Things with familiar shapes.

The above pic is a kind of practice-and-props exercise. Practice in developing my modeling skills in Animation Master, and props to Ashley Wood of Zombie Versus Robot fame. The robots in ZVR were little more than cylinders and boxes, but their design was so cool, that I couldn't help but model one. As I continue to learn AM, I'm going to re-visit the robot. From looking at various pics, it's arms should be more massive, and it's body a little thinner and taller....

Software addiction

g1

At this point in my creative life, I have to admit that I have a problem. That problem is keeping me from producing as much as I should ... as much as I am capable. That problem, my problem, is software addiction. I have recently come to grips with the fact that I need to settle in on four to five main applications to get my work done in any particular sphere of creativity.

I have three main programs as it relates to writing novels and comics. More about that another day. But when it comes to this animation and or 3D thing, I've been jumping from program to program for 10 years. Ridiculous. I need to pick a program that will allow me to create my characters from the ground up; in the style that I call my own, and live with what comes of it.

Gonna take my own advise ... gonna at least dig in deep with a software app that I'm familiar with for say 6 to 9 months, and start pumping out work. Wish me luck, because software addiction to a creative type like myself; a person who relies on complicated programs to realize my creative urges, is just as depilating as any other vise out there.

RETRO-KM: LORD OF THE LANDLORDS

A NOVEL BY -
EDWARD UZZLE

front

“Most SF portrayals of the future don’t see much of a place for blacks.  Sure, there’s a Lieutenant Uhura here and Captain Sisko there. For the most part, though, blacks are either absent or irrelevant in depictions of the decades and centuries to come. But not in this book.  Edward Uzzle envisions a future in which blacks are not only present and relevant, but also pivotal.  His Ta-Amenta is a black utopia under siege in a racially splintered world; and his warrior-hero, Kashta, is out to save his society.  This book will not only keep you on the edge of your seat; it will make you think as well.”

Charles R. Saunders, author of Imaro

"With a deft hand, Uzzle weaves a story where speculative fiction meets a Kamitic warrior in a future dreamed of and feared. A first person narrative of Kamitic magic which at once entertains and enlightens. Pure good reading of the Kamitic kind...."
